The inauguration ceremony of the Global Lighting Procurement Federation (GLPF) was grandly held in Hong Kong!

"Expanding Global Markets Together with GLPF" — This was the shared declaration at the founding conference of the Global Lighting Procurement Federation (GLPF) in Hong Kong. On April 7, 2025, 65 lighting enterprises from around the world gathered in Hong Kong, marking the official launch of this international platform that converges global wisdom and resources from the lighting industry. Chen Lei was elected as the inaugural President of GLPF, and Zeng Xiaolan was elected as Executive President.

President Chen Lei: Driving Industrial Innovation Through Open Collaboration

In his inaugural address, newly elected President Chen Lei expressed profound gratitude for the trust placed in him by the members. He emphasized, "GLPF will uphold the core principles of openness, collaboration, and innovation, building a global resource matching platform to promote deep integration across all segments of the industry chain, thereby achieving symbiotic win-win outcomes in technology, markets, and value." His remarks demonstrated keen insight and firm confidence in the industry's future development.

Executive President Zeng Xiaolan: Jointly Building a Community with a Shared Future for the Industry

In her speech, Executive President Zeng Xiaolan reviewed the preparatory journey and extended special thanks to the core team for their dedication. She stated, "Moving forward, I will work closely with the executive team, pooling the collective wisdom of all members. Through precise services and innovative mechanisms, we will build GLPF into the most influential cooperation hub in the lighting industry."

The conference elected representatives from 15 entities—including SYLVANIA, Halco, COOPER, Best Lighting Products, Elite, SkyLighting, LEDVANCE, ATG, Eran Industrial, CLAREO S.A.S, SEOUL, ZLIEC, Traxon, and Ledvance Digital—as Invited Vice Presidents.

Looking Ahead: GLPF Takes the Helm, Charting the Industry’s Blueprint Together

Amid escalating global trade frictions, the lighting industry stands on the brink of fresh challenges, which may also herald an opportunity for reshuffling and repositioning within the sector. Tang Guoqing, Vice Chairman of the China Illuminating Engineering Society, noted that expanding into diversified global markets has become an imperative and pressing trend.

It is reported that GLPF will join forces with all member units, guided by its founding mission of "Expanding Global Markets Together with GLPF," to establish five major service platforms:

First, deepening global collaboration: dismantling geographical barriers, fostering substantive dialogue among multinational buyers, manufacturers, and R&D institutions, and constructing a transparent, efficient supply chain network. To date, three service centers have been established at Hong Kong Cheuk Sang, Shanghai Ledvance, and the Shenzhen Lighting and Display Engineering Industry Association, with plans to roll out additional service nodes worldwide.

Second, advancing industry standards: mobilizing multi-stakeholder efforts to spearhead international patent and standards development. Formulating and promoting the Specification for Evaluating Lighting Enterprise Capability, guiding enterprises in obtaining five-star certification, and steering the industry toward high-quality, sustainable growth.

Third, strengthening procurement matchmaking: advancing online procurement procedure platforms while delivering offline matchmaking services, regularly releasing procurement demands to help brand owners source quality products and assist manufacturers in accessing market channels.

Fourth, empowering brands to go global: providing tailored consulting services addressing diverse enterprise needs—whether for product export, manufacturing relocation, or brand globalization—while leveraging Hong Kong and international exhibition resources to foster coordinated industry expansion overseas.

Fifth, serving member needs: establishing information-sharing platforms and training mechanisms to equip enterprises with market insights, risk alerts, and strategic support for internationalization.

Concurrent with the conference, the launch ceremony for the compilation of the Specification for Evaluating Export Capability of Lighting Enterpriseswas held. GLPF and the Shenzhen Lighting and Display Engineering Industry Association will lead the standard development effort, aiding global buyers in identifying high-quality enterprises and products.

The Global Lighting Procurement Federation will fully propel the industry’s shift from "competition" to "symbiosis," from "going it alone" to "global coordination," sharing opportunities, shouldering responsibilities, and co-creating value.
